Made worldwide
The design, fabrication, and testing of Typsim watches is a worldwide production. Components are fabricated in Switzerland, Hong Kong, & the United States of America, chronometer certification happens in France, but at the center is the Typsim workshop located in Seattle, WA, USA where the design, assembly, and final quality assurance takes place.
assembly, testing, and quality assurance
Before each watch is hand assembled here in our Seattle workshop every bare movement is pre-tested in 6-positions at full- and half- wind. Any movement out of specification is adjusted and retested before use. Throughout the assembly process our watches are checked for alignment, operation, and cleanliness - inspected and cleaned with each step. Assembled watches are once again tested in 6-positions at full- and half- wind before they are adjusted and time tested.
True Gilt Dial
Nothing captures craftsmanship like a negative-relief, galvanically-coated, gilt dial. This laborious, multistep process exposes the polished dial plate for subtle depth and a dynamic play of light.
Optical Acrylic Crystal
Clarity and legibility are achieved with a domed, optical acrylic crystal. Otherwise known as Hesalite or Plexiglas, this material offers superior characteristics – highly impact resistant, unclouded edge-to-edge clarity, and material stability for water resistance. Acrylic crystals tell the stories of ownership and are a charming element of luxury, vintage watches. Unlike sapphire, that requires replacement when scratched, chipped, or coating failure, acrylic crystal may be polished.
Exclusive Luminescence Compound
In stark contrast to an industry of immutable materials, Typsim celebrates the story watches tell through intentional material selection. Working with RC Tritec, the maker of Swiis SuperLuminova, Typsim has created an exclusive luminescence compound that will naturally patina with time. Starting out the slightest shade of off-white, the luminous plots will develop a creamy-to-yellow hue depending on wear. Don’t worry, we’re not using radioactive materials.
Swiss Chronometer Movement
Fundamental to the longevity of a watch is a dependable, serviceable, and precise movement. The chronometer grade Sellita movements meet the highest standards of timekeeping and are built to exceptional tolerances. Following in suit with the precision, the finishing is provided at the highest standard. The movements are provided with Rhodium plating, decorated with a circular and diamond snail pattern, blue fasteners, and Cotes de Geneve rotor.
Water Resistance
Made for wear, all Typsim watches achieve varying degrees of water resistance. Unlike water resistant technology of the 60’s, this modern use of an optical acrylic crystal, triple gasketed screw down crown, and screw down case back is rigorously engineered and tested to current standards so you can rest assured to wear your watch everyday.
Stainless Steel
Form, durability, and comfort intersect in the design of the Typsim watches. Utilizing crisp polish and directional brush finishes, each watch accentuates its form and reduces bulk on the wrist. Marine grade 316L stainless steel is used for its resilience in harsh conditions.
